Last Thursday the doc didn't think Frank would make it thru the night and if he was unconscious on Friday AM we were going to stop the IVs. Today Frank is out of the hospital and in "transitional care" being taught how to care for himself the best he can (use walker, how to get up, down, etc.) and may be ready to go home in 2 or 3 weeks.

I just can't fathom the strength and will of this man. I'm pleased and proud to have such a courageous fellow for a father and hope that some of these genes are flowing in my blood. Hell of a guy.

(Ironically, copied for the Great Uncle Frank is dying post.)

He just did it to make you look foolish Uncle Bill. ;) You've got quite a legacy to live up to, and that's always a good thing.

This is great to hear. I hope that this recovery continues and that you can have him home soon.

a tough man, a great family, doctors that are not used to tough men anymore and a community to pray and "send smoke" - seems these are good factors...
If great Uncle Frank stays or goes is not really in our hands - but whatever happens it is full of dignity I am sure.

Can't keep a good man down! We need more like him!
Continued prayers every day.

I once sent a client to a psychological exam. In response to the question whether he was suicidal or not he replied: " I wouldn't give them the satisfaction!!" I always thought that was a cool sentiment. Keep hanging on as long as possible. Glad to hear he's doing better. Must be something he's meant to do still.

As its already been said, you have quite a legacy to live up to Uncle Bill! Thing is I see that strength and will in you. May God Bless you both.

Wow! What wonderful news and around Christmas season, too. Happy for you, Bill.

Good news indeed!

Haven't been able to check in for a while, I see that tough old guy has done it again. Best wishes.

No, he did it so you have something to equal or better! LOL, that makes me so glad to hear it :)

Somebody said it right. The modern medical community is not used to the tough old birds that past generations produced.

Don't worry Uncle Bill. There is no doubt about whether those genes are carried by you. Think about all you have been through and you are still kicking. Let's face it. When you should have been taking care of yourself what were you doing. Still worrying about dad and there sure isn't a thing wrong with that, Just shows that your a pair of pretty tough gents. Does my heart good. God Bless.

Still praying.:)

Uncle,

Being kinda new here, I haven't had a lot to say. But this one jumped out at me. After reading the HI biographies page and all of the members thoughtful comments concerning you and your family. I think Pappy sums it up perfectly.

All my best wishes and prayers

It's great to read that Frank is improving...I'd like to read that YOU are too.

Don't neglect yourself in taking care of others...
