Well, I was hagling on Friday on if I should go to the Gunshow in Las Vegas or the Knife Show in Solvang. Both are equidistant from geographical coordinates. The kicker was that I am not a fancy knife kind of person, more on the user side of knives. So I went to the Gun show.
Tell you what I saw:
The Cold Steel people were selling seconds up the yin yang. SRK's going for $35, Recon Tanto's for $40, Bush Rangers for $40, Recon Scouts for $80 and much more.
Several custom knife makers including Oak Hills Forge.
All the cheap taiwan knife sellers were out in force.
Saw one table with several high quality knives including a new MD ATAK for $315. It was in perfect condition. I could not see any temper lines on the HC for those who are wondering about when it was made.
Bussy Combat Knives had a Table. Think I overheard Jerry Bussy arguing with one of his "employees" about the fine art of shaving hair off your arm with out cutting the arm off. Their knives seemed to be going very fast.
Strider knives was there.
I saw one table with Livesay knives. They look like thicker machetes. Fit and finish didn't appear that great though. But it could have been the ones there only.
A.G. Russel knives was there trying to buy up all the knives people carried.
Puma knives had a big table.
The largest dealer of Randall knives was there, can't remember his name though.
TOPS knives was there and I left with a great impression of their knives. Excellent quality, fit and finish. Their anaconda and Steel eagle knives are one big hunk of steel, that's for sure.
Sellers of old knives were everywere.
When going to these gun shows, it is best to have an idea as to the value of the knives you may be interested in. I saw some very high prices on standard knives. Could easily beat that price on the internet. Others were giving good show discounts.
Glad I went.
