Started the year slowly finally bought a zero bought some used knifes nothing great or expensive. Then I scored umnumzaan after a long wait nib Then after a long time a hinderer half track nib Both are in magnacut which i am beginning to love much better steel than thought I would . I thought cv20 was best but magnacut sharpens up easier.
Plus I have a victorinox synergy alox x on back order which sould make it this month.
Now did anyone else have a good year .

We're still recovering from Helene. I figure another year before things get near normal.

My hobbies tend to rotate, so I've only bought 3 knives this year, and have sold 2.

Well, I'm on a pension that's neither generous nor sparse, so I don't buy knives often. Reports/evaluations from here (not just pictures, lists of acquisitions and such) do shape my buying habits - I look to find the "best" knife that I can afford and keep sharp. My only other hobby that sucks up money is shooting, but luckily I have a couple of good reloading presses and a BIL who shares the hobby and has more reloading equipment than I have. Those two pretty much suck up any disposable income I may have. I got royally screwed on my corporate retirement; that doesn't matter now as I've learned to manage what I have and it's plenty for me. It's not enough to go batshit buying every hot knife that comes out, but I have developed my own tastes that are very specific and that narrows down the field a lot.

One thing I think about from time to time - what if I find my Goldilocks knife (and I'm close to that with the Para 3 were it a little lighter), and in the "perfect" steel? Would I still be interested in new knives? I think I would be, as no matter what Glock advertises there's no such thing as "perfection" in a changing world.
