I just put the zip tie on my Delica and tried it out to see how it worked. Well, it was definitely a fun modification to the knife until I cut my friggin' pants on BOTH sides. I tried left and right hand openings out of the pocket and I guess the tip caught the material and I pulled back and now I have like 3 cuts on each side. Dammit!!!

Pants? You were wearing PANTS when you did this?!

You aren't supposed to be wearing pants when using the zip-tie trick man.....

bummer :(

:D

Sarcoblaster, you cut the outside not inside lining of your pocket i hope
Maybe you can sand/file down the "catch" so it doesn't snag until it hits the lip of the pocket?
Thanks for the warning, though!

No, I actually cut the material on the pant leg. When I pulled back and down, the tip of my Delica snagged and since it's so friggin' sharp from the factory (which is great, except in this case...), it just sliced it. I don't know how it happened because I tried the waved Emerson Commander at the knife store about a week or two ago and it didn't do it. I think I just learned the hard way that "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". No more knife mods for me.

SarcoBlaster, you HAVE TO be careful when you handle a Spydie, sometimes they bite!! ;)

P.S.-Trust me, I know from personal experience. Never have cut my pants though.
Lol!!!

I know. I cut my hand on the day I got my Delica II because I left a chunk of my palm in the blade's path when I closed it, lol.

Very true. I'm lucky it didn't catch my leg after it went through the material!

This could have something to do with why Ernie Emerson won't Wave all his models. Some blade shapes may not be suited for it. I know my Commander generally comes out of my pocket open or trying to open, whether or not I'm trying to Wave it out.

Look on the bright side, SarcoBlaster, you'll probably end up the greatest expert on this technique, because you will NEVER get careless again.

SUE the zip tie company. Take their billions

Yeah, clearly these evil zip tie thingies are more dangerous than the knives to which they are attached.:D
