Hey all - this year I set a personal goal to reduce the number of random/flavor of the month movies and books I read, and focus on slowly knocking out the all time greats or most influential books/movies.

I also figured - why not do the same with knives to avoid randomization the latest hot trend. Because the list of greatest knives is far less easy to find than the greatest books of the last 100years, I am hoping you can help me build that list.

So what do you think should be included on the greatest knives of all time? I'm sure this list would be a combo of fixed/folders, traditional/modern and cheep/expensive. List your thoughts :).

Sebenza with it's integral lock. Then we got cold steel with their triad lock. Not sure if it's the recon that got it first or another model.
Spyderco military is just great.

Any Barlow - just because (also Huck Finn carried one). Swiss Army Knives - craze started by McGyver TV show (I carried one before McGyver).
I always carry a SAK Tinker and also collect vintage barlows.

Benchmade 42 is probably the most iconic balisong. It's not the best nowadays however. Spyderco PM2 is probably one of the most popular knives ever. Buck 110. The Kabar fighting knife. Just to name a few.

I would have to say the most influential knife of all time imho. It has been copied by almost every manufacturer who does traditional knives. It really brought locking knives to the forefront.
I am a little partial though, I'm carrying 2 buck knives today, an inertia and a 301 stockman

You've gotta have a Victorinox classic.
A Case sodbuster
A Leatherman PST
A Case peanut
A Mk2 pattern of your choosing
An electrician
Gotta have a classic carbon steel butcher like an old Hickory or something from Russell Green River
And if you fish you gotta have a Rapala / Marttiini finlander fillet knife.
Gotta have a scout as well but they're not really being made anymore so you'd have to get one off eBay, not that it's hard to do for under $30.
And the Camillus 99 is a good readily available option.

I suggest to organize, for example:

By action:
- First flipper: CRKT M16

Ethnic knives:
- Opinell
- Laguiole
- etc.

By lock:
- RIL: Sebenza
- First compression lock: Paramilitary
- First CBBL: Manix 2
- First Power Lock: Tatanka
- etc.

and so on.
