well i just ordered a baby whisper from john greco id like any info i can get on the quality of this knife THANKS

Ed,

I received my baby whisper two days ago from John. He had one left in 52100 bearing grade steel which I secured.

The knife is not going to fail you unless you attempt to detroy it. Mine is not as "finished" as others work but for a hard use general purpose SD small straight blade it appears as though it will be quite utilitarian and withstand much punishement if one chose or was required to use it in such a fashion.

To me, it is just the right size for a hideout straight blade. Mine came with a very well made utilitarian open top belt sheath. I'll not carry it that wat, but will have Mike Sastre of www.rivercitysheaths.com make me a kydex belt rig for it that will be just what the doctor ordered.

It's not the prettiest knife, but it is a tool made to be used and not just admired. Mine came with a red linen micarta set of scales. The knifes spine is quite thick and the grind is superb for cutting and stabbing, the tip is quite stout and should not suffer breakage in hard use as well.

Enjoy yours,

Brownie

Thanks For The Info Brownie One More Question If You Would Out Of The Box How Was The Sharpness

It was sharp, but I sharpened it.

I do that with every knife though. There have been very few that didn't or couldn't use a ceramic to make it that much sharper NIB.

I only have one John Greco knife (a Cub Companion). I found the knife, when new, was sharpened with an edge that would withstand a lot of abuse. A somewhat thick tough edge. I sharpened it up to be a bit more "razor" like, which is how I like my blades. A purely personal taste.
