i just purchased a greco dangler from ebay unfortunatley there wasnt any info on blade steel, i went to greco's website but he has now since upgraded to newer knives and my knife is no longer listed. can anyone give me the specs on this little beauty? thanks

There should be some markings on the blade that give it away. If it has an "A" on it, it's A-2. He uses A-2 mostly on the big knives, so you'll probably find a "1" on the blade, meaning it's a 10xx steel. I think he used a lot of 1050 on the smaller knives, although don't quote me on that. When I talked to him at a show about 5 years ago he was using 1050 and some 1084, but it could be 1080 or 1095, too. For some reason 1050 seems to stick in my head for the smaller knives, and I don't even know if there is such a thing as 1050 steel for knives! But, most likely it's a 10xx steel of some sort.

That's what it was... He said knives marked with a "1" are either 1080 or 8670. Why did I think 1050?

I was told the Dangler I bought about 3 yrs. ago was 8670.

I picked one up from John about 4 years ago and it is 8670. Liked it so much I got another one for my dad.

(I have to mention that this was about the best 45 in knife bucks that I have spent.)

I have two Greco "Dangler Capers", and John told me personally that the steel was 52100. I can't speak to his other "danglers" other than to say that 8670 would be a good guess.
