I recently ordered a John Greco falcon and I am lookinf for some info that isn't included on his site. I'd like some general info on the blade steel, 8670. How does it compare to other steels, is it a stainless, etc. Also, what is the handle made of? At that price I'd assume steel, but I'd rather know for sure than assume. That's all I can really think to ask for now, but any additional information would be more than welcome.

Handle is indeed steel, in fact is 8670 just like the blade, though not quite as hard. It is certainly not stainless, but it's a very good performing steel (much like the A-2 it replaced on his knives) and the coating will protect it from corrosion. I have a few of John's knives and am nothing but happy with them. :)

Mr. Kurten, can I call you Peter? (joke) I have the falcon and hope you'll be quite happy with it, as I am with mine. The handles are steel. The whole thing is very utilitarian. You can adjust it for blade play and disassemble it easily for servicing. A spares kit (containing the screws and spacer etc) is available from John Greco for a nominal fee, if necessary. Apparently the older ones took ages to break in but these are fine from new. Thanks, Rod.
