Just had to say I just ordered the new flat ground whisper and can't wait to get it. I've been reading as many threads as I can find, so far everything seems to point to a good knife. If anyone has had any probleums or negative experiences please tell me. :)

It appears that they've added a new flat ground folder - the whisper, The blade shape is a little different.

I'd be interested in hearing a side by side comparison with the older models.

The Greco folders sure seem to be getting better and better.

Thanks for the link, I didn't scroll down far enough to find them the first time.
But is it just me or does the new whisper folder look a lot like the old/new Falcon folder?

Hey guys we are new to the forums but we have read some questions on the two new folders made by John Greco. The flat ground Falcon w/the Whisper handle and the flat ground Falcon are improvements made from our customers input that we had forwarded to John. We were glad that he made it easier to open and close so that we didn't have a bunch of guys walking around with sore thumbs. (I think there was rumor about the Greco Thumb Club). The flat ground Falcon has the same straight grip as the Birds of Prey models only the blade has changed from hollow ground G1 finish to flat ground stonewash finish. The flat grind falcon with "Whisper" handles has a contoured grip like our Baby Whisper fixed blade. Of course they are all made from the 8670 steel as all of our other knives. I also want to let you know that the prices will be changing soon, so if there is a knife you have been thinking about please don't take much more time to ponder. And please feel free to e-mail us with any questions you may have about Greco knives.

I just got a flat ground whisper folder Greco from CQC and have had it for about a week. I love it so far! It's just what I wanted, tough, minimal, thick bladed but very sharp, I very much like the blade shape, opens and closes easily, fits in my pocket. I'm not sure it will remaining easy opening when it gets dirty (and I got to get it dirty) but we'll have to see. I might open it up and polish it to get to open a little easier so that it can take some "gumming up" and still open easy, but then again, I didn't expected a quick opening "combat" knife, I bought it to be a folding "farm" knife, it's just that it opens so slick now. :D I can't keep my hand off it.

Cqcknives, welcome to the forums. And tell John that I am the proud owner of one of his Falcon folders and like the knife very much. But I would carry it a lot (did I say a lot) more if it had a pocket clip. As of right now it’s sitting on a dresser top in my bedroom. I like it enough that it hasn’t made it to a drawer for storage, but it would have a much better chance of making it to my regular EDC rotation with a clip. I just do not like the belt sheath.

Thanks again for your comments. David has been telling John that he would also prefer a clip on the folders. He is an amy man and it would just make it eaiser to carry. As far as strength and durability David has been real impressed all the models. We hope that with all the input we send to John for a clip on the folders that he just may come up with one.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing lacking in toughness, usability, durability etc. I’m just thinking along the same lines of it would be much more convenient with a clip. The only knives that I own without a clip is old Case, Shrade OldTimers, a BoyScout knife and so on. I even carry a Case Texas toothpick from time to time, but it’s a small knife that I can put in the pocket and forget about it. I’ve tried it with the Falcon and it’s just too big for loose in the pocket. For me, the ultimate would be a retrofit kit that I could switch out the locking side handle slab (with scales please)for one with a clip. Kind of like the scales kit that is already offered.
