Can anyone answer these questions for me?

- how thick are these knives?

- what is the difference between the various folding models shown on cqcknives.com? All the folding models look the same.

- I notice this knife has no clip - how comfortably does it carry loose in a front pocket?

- Who sells them - none of the usual dealers like 1sks, Bayou LaFourche, or New Graham seems to carry them.

Thanks.

I don't think I can answer any of your questions. I did want to add though, I have a Greco Griffen with Scales. This knife is without a doubt the strongest folder I have ever seen.

Alonzo, I've got a couple of them, the Raptor hawkbill and Falcon droppoint. (TheBadGuy's Griffen is a clippoint.) Except for the blade shape, they are identical, with the hawkbill and droppoint sharing the same back profile and the droppoint and clippoint sharing an edge profile.

The blades look to be 3/16" thick and the entire knife is 3/8". That's a thick blade and an incredibly tough one, but the overall is very slim, which some people prefer with the optional scales to fill out the grip.

I like them as is. The blade, scales, and bolts are all there is, open back and tight construction make it almost self-cleaning. I just drop one in a jacket or jeans pocket. Mine kind of play off the big Buck/Strider spearpoint, which I carry if I want the bulk, or a Greco if I want the stealth. It is very comfortable in the bottom of a pocket.

The edge is sharp and stays that way. I take a diamond rod to the hawkbill from time to time, on a long-term project to make it a little thinner. (I use A.G.Russell's Field Sharpener, a kind of mini-Sharpmaker with diamond and medium round rods.) It is a dangerous blade with a strong tip. You can ram it into a tree without worrying about it folding on you or scuffing the blade.

They do come very stiff, but I think the current models are supposed to be smoother. Even mine have loosened up a lot. As far as I know, Dave Bata at CQC Knives is the only outlet for John Greco's folders, although I've seen his fixed blades on Bladeart.
