Has anyone bought any of his knives? Just curious...I just bought a Whisper after I read Van Cook's review in TK. It looks like an awesome piece...definetly for nothing other than fighting!

I've got 4 of his fixed blades and one of the folders. Great users. Even more so, when you consider their price. However, I think I like them better before they went to the flat grind. They were easier to sharpen.

I love em, greatr users, I have a dangler and one bird of prey folder, see my sig:D

I have the Falcon folder (the older style--not the new flat grind). It's a virtual bulldog of a folder. Not exactly a quick opener, but built to be able to take a vicious beating and laugh it off.

I have a few of the older ones listed under My Stuff (see link below). These were made back when John was making a handful of each model and constantly moving on to new designs.

Yeah I've totally thrashed a couple.., and in the "Price vs. Toughness" category they are not easy to beat! Can't go wrong if you want to do hard use stuff...

How hard are the flat grinds to sharpen???

I don't know that I'd say they're hard to sharpen. It just seemed that I could get the older ones sharper than I can the flat ground ones, at least with the sharpmaker. I think it has to do with a change in the angle of the grind. Also, they've changed the shape of the scales. They're a bit thinner/flatter than they were before. They're still great knives, though. I'd buy another.

I can't wait for my Whisper...I wish they still had the black blade one...but I still like what I got though!
