I went to the Wolverine Knife Collectors Club Show in Novi (Michigan) today, and who did I see as soon as I walked in the door? Greco Knives... with John & Sherry talking to several folks surrounding their booth. I waited my turn, and got to speak with both of them. What wonderful, friendly, helpful, nice people! I can't say enough about them. They had never seen me before, and yet they spent 15-20 minutes chatting with me like I was a long lost relative or one of their best friends.

To make a longish post from becoming too much longer, I walked away with one of John's Companion's... 5" of razor sharp A2, and with a black micarta handle that feels "melted" to the full tang. What an awesome feeling, wonderfully balanced knife.

I'll close by saying that I feel honored to have met Sherry and John, and even more special that my wife purchased the knife for me as an early Valentine's Day gift!

I talked briefly with John at last year's Blade show and Sherry over the phone several times. Very nice people.

I think they need to get on the web and their orders would multiply, though I not sure they would be able to keep up!

LMAO! AJ, you, too? A friend and I spent about the same amount of time with John and his wife, and we both ended up buying knives from him. I got a companion, I can't remember right now what my friend bought.
Great knives from great people, Both John and his wife are very cool, down-to-earth people. I couldn't help but get something from him.

When I brought the knife home, my wife said, "Wow, that's one serious little chopper, is this gonna be the little brother for your Busse?" (It's an INFI Steel Heart.) Wow, she sure knows me, doesn't she?

Don,

Sounds like us SE Michigan knife nuts should plan a get together sometime. Too bad we don't have more shows the the WKCC one this weekend. Those are the only places I know where we can actually "try before we buy"... especially when it comes to higher end knives and customs. I live in the Ann Arbor area, and there are no knife shops anywhere to be had.

BTW... I'm really gonna enjoy my new Companion. You wife is right... that is one mean little knife!

I haven't met John but did get to talk with him when I ordered a Green River model from him. As you indicated, he is very friendly, engaging and down to earth. His knives certainly seem bargain priced. Since I don't own any big knives I was really surprised at the heft of the Green River which is made from quarter inch A2 stock. The thickness and grind make it a less than ideal slicer and it is too short to be a good chopper but it makes a great wood splitter by pounding on the spine ;-) The leather sheath is very heavy duty and once you have wet molded it, it holds the knife nicely.
