received my greco scalpel in the mail late last week.

First impression:
It was quite a bit bigger than i thought it would be. overall length maybe 8 inches. great blade profile, nice even grinds and nasty looking. it shipped with a leather sheath. in the age of kydex and cordura, i've got to say i was a little underwhelmed. but you can't beat the price.

upon further inspection, there was a sizeable spot of rust on the butt of the handle outside the lanyard hole. flitz and a toothbrush took care of it, but the surface has been pretty heavily pitted, so it'll bear watching in the future. the handle stock was nice and thick, and the blade's taper was even and symmetrical.

after wrapping the handle with paracord, the knife fits perfectly in the hand. as far as carry goes, it's light, and the blade profile makes IWB carry comfortable, even when sitting down.

the only complaint i have is with sharpness. i was expecting something as sharp as a scalpel. the knife is anything but. it tore paper, and would only cut through if a slicing motion was used. moreover, the cut edges were furry. i've yet to use the sharpmaker on it yet, so we'll see how that goes.

overall, a great little fixed blade for the price. now, to find a decent sheath to put it in...

I believe he designed that knife for cutting only with a slicing motion, Grecos do take a great edge, you just gotta give it to them:D

I have a Scalpel too, got it back in September.
Mine was like yours, not very sharp. I've tried using a sharpmaker on it, but still can't get a really good edge unless I use an extreme angle on it. I think I'm going to have to get some diamond rods and seriously reprofile the bevel. You're right, cord wrap makes for a better handle. One change I did make was to hacksaw off the round butt of the handle, and much prefer the result.
