caine, my son-in-law's brother is an SF Captain in afghanistan (as near as we can tell -- somewhat FOUO I guess). I offered him my "GB" but he says he hasn't used up the MadDog I gave him yet. He says quite a few SF troopers have either been issued the serial numbered "Yarborough's" or have purchased the GB but liked them so much they left them home on their walls! I told him to let me know when he needed it and I'd get it to him.

I bought it thinking I may get mobilized (I'm retired) but not likely now.

caine -- good luck, sergeant! ...and here's a salute from this retired 06!

Caine, glad to hear it has served you well. And god bless you are in the 101:) If you need anything, give me an email.

Happy Veteren's Day and godspeed to you soldier. Keep fighting the good fight and keep us posted.

Bruce,

The serial numbered knives are awarded to SF troops who pass the Q course. They are not issued. I bought a Gb for a friend of mine in the 20th SF Group in Afghanistan. He got back a few weeks ago. He loved the knife.

K.V. Collucci, I'm aware of how graduates of the "Q" course obtain a Yarborough. I used the word "issued" because each knife has a serial number and is assigned to an individual. This relationship is tracked. It is similar to the way Army General Officers are issued/awarded a handgun upon being promoted to 07.

If you are implying that I don't know that every graduate of the Qualification course does not receive a Yarborough, I'm aware of that too. In fact, the very SF Captain I indicated above qualified a couple of years before the Yarborough was developed so he does not have one as he has not bought one for himself yet.

Well excuse me...

No problem, Ken. Apparently you took from my statement that I thought that every SF soldier was issued a Yarborough as part of his organizational equipment once he got to his "Group". Some of the Q qualified guys are a little bummed that the Yarborough was not available when they graduated. They know they can purchase one from Bragg if they prove their qualification, but it's still their own money.

Regards,

Bruce
