which would be better, a green beret, or the neil roberts knife?
has anybody used either one?

ive owned both, though have since sold/traded both.

i thought the gb handles were more comfortable, but i like the recurve on the warrior.

and what is your intended use? that would help in evaluating. both are great knives, would serve you well as a camp knife or hunter.

Mostly for carring on a pack for a camp knife. I looked at both today, and the tip on
the neil roberts looked awfully thin.

the warrior is probably more of a "fighter" than the gb. i would think either gb, the 5 or 7, would be a good camp knife. should handle most chores easily and could be used to split wood if necessary.

the blade shape would be better for dressing game as well.

Do the serrations on the gb cause any problems? I did notice that they are desinned to sharpen easily. I was originally looking at ordering a project2
with no seerations until i saw the neil roberts.

what type of problems are you referring to?

they arent the most useful. not so good for sawing, mainly designed for making notches in wood, like for traps or shelters.

I've never used serrations on a large knife, but on folders the serrations did not seem that useful for everyday chores. I'm not intending to use it like a combat knife, more like a survival/large hunting knife. I have a mountaineer for edc, but would like to have a larger knife also.

serrations have their uses, just dont expect to cut down any trees. :)

the crk style serrations wont provide much slicing power, but are for use in survival type situations. building shelters, animal traps, etc.

neither the gb or warrior are good choppers, they are a bit light for this. but as a general camp knife, the mountaineer is also a great blade.

i think you will find the straight edge on the gb more useful than the recurve. and easier to sharpen.

Thanks for the info, it should make my decision easier. I carry a knives of alaska hatchet for chopping, it works great for light chopping. With the mountaineer 1, the koa hatchet, and the gb I should have all the bases covered.

i would certainly think so. nice thing about the crk's, if you decide you would prefer a different model, they are very easy to sell or trade.

I own a couple of both the Green Berets and the Neil Roberts, I tend to reach for the 7" Green Beret more than the N.R.'s. But, it pretty much rests in what mood I am in.:D
When in doubt buy both!

:D

Neil Roberts, I think its just a better knife. However, I'm not impartial so handle both a bit a see what feels right.
