Don't know if any of you are GB fans, but I started a review over in W&SS called GB Field Trials.

One of the other posters over there had suggested the GB would not be a great choice for bushcraft or survival tasks.
I decided to put my GB through some 'field trials.' Check it out if you are interested. Any suggestions welcome.

I'm looking forward to your tests, maybe they should merge the two posts.
One comment with normal "camp/survival" usage see how far it gets to dull
the knife then while in the woods try stroping it back to life with your
leather or web belt.

Hey, there were a few other things I had in mind, but I think in the end it was best to close the thread before it became too contentious.

Using a knife, any knife, is the only way to begin to understand what it does well and what it is capable of. I learned a lot doing this field review and came to respect this knife a lot more. It is a very capable knife.

Is it ideal? No, but then no knife in my experience is. I think when all is said and done, the Green Beret proves out to be an excellent set of compromises for a combat/survival knife--I'd be happy to carry it anywhere. Just one knife knut's opinion though.

i enjoyed your other thread. looks like you had a great time completing your tasks!

i would suggest leaving it open, after all discussion is what we are here for, and opposing points of view should be welcome.

the mods there are very good at keeping the trolls at bay.

A mod closed the thread in W&SS. I welcomed a lively debate, but I think the thread was starting to deteriorate. C'est la vie on the forums.
