Green compound not polishing?

Is green compound supposed to give a mirror polish? I've done a test putting my knives on a different leather strops(smooth side with green compound from different sources) after sharpening them on a 10,000 superstone. Seems to leave scratches on the knife and leaving it less of a mirror polish than the superstone.

Well green compound is at about 5 microns
A 10k superstone (depending what type of stone) it could be finer 2.5-3.5 microns

Could also be that too much pressure is being used on the strop. Try more passes with less pressure

Let me clear some things up.

Green compound (chromium oxide) is on average .5 microns.

A 10k waterstone is typically in the 1-2 micron range.

If you do not have a quality compound it will have impurities that will cause random scratching.
