Do most of you think the D2 Para would make good EDC? I am thinking about getting one. $100.00 +sales tax at local store. Right now I carry a Kershaw black handle scallion to work to do certain chores. such as cutting open package material and stripping some wire( Electrician). Off work I carry A Kershaw 1910 which I really like. But Saturday I had the chance to handle the green D2 Para and Like it very much. I had the chance to put the Para up next to the Millie and liked the Para better. I have enough knives but I really like the Para. What should I do?

Great knife. One of the best from Spyderco IMO- Have been switching off the Para with a Sebenza and a Lone Wolf Diablo DA for my EDC knives. The D2 takes a wicked edge and holds it well. The green was a limited run I think and that makes it a little special. Go for it as you really need it. :D

Grab the paramilitary. it’s a great knife. And a good price especially for a brick and mortar store.

Get the P-Mil. It will go right in your pocket...clipped of course.
Wait for the Coyote Brown version.

I have the para in D2 and a full sized military. i recently broke the tip of the para with minimal use. It re-ground fairly easy, but its not ment for prying. Other than that the militaries are fine tools.

That's a really good price for a store. That would be MSRP at every b&m near me. Yours is competitive with internet pricing

I can't comment on the d2, but the para just may be the best frickin folder I've ever carried. BUY IT!

The CPM D2 Para is a great folder. The steel gets sharper with better edge retention than S30V, and the comp lock, blade shape, and most everything about the knife make it a great HD knife that cuts very good as well.

You could certainly do much worse for an EDC than a D2 Para. And the burly D2 would be a great choice for you as a electrician.

And that is indeed a great price!

I don't know if CPM-D2 is any BETTER than CPM-S30V, but I can attest to the fact that they are both excellent steels and the Paramilitary is an awesome knife. I have never been able to tell the difference in real-world use and I have used both quite a bit. I like big knives, but the Para has a great blade shape and an excellent handle which I find just as useful as a 4" bladed knife.

Note: I have (had) Paramilitaries and Militarys in both S30V and CPM-D2 and the D2 para has been the smoothest by many factors. Far smoother than my S30V Paramilitary! Others report this finding as well. It behaves like an axis lock, and allows you to close one-handed because the lock is not in the swing of the blade.

I'm carrying mine today, and as good as it is already my favorite for off duty; it's still growing on me. Just an amazing knife!

I just picked up my new Para D2 at $107.00 including sales tax. Anybody in the Denver area can do the same at the Spyderco outlet store. Instore sale only! What is the burly D2?

The CPM D2 tool steel clipped in his pocket has finer grains than regular D2, though against a high end custom with a 61 RC blade they performed pretty much identically. I would like to test my Millie and Para that are in CPM D2 against some production D2 to see if the CPM D2 works better. Either way I have found CPM D2 to take a better edge than S30V with a bit better edge retention, with no issues with chipping at all.

Is it growing on you? I saw your youtube review, and while you seemed pleased with it, I was left with the impression that you were kinda just going through the motions with this one... compared to the love-a-thons that were the Military and SnG reviews. I dunno, I tend to read too much into things.

It took a little while to grow on me... but I LOVE IT. I would call this one the "SnG Killer" now... The only thing I would like to see to improve it would be beefier screws holding the handle together... I'm sure they're fine, but just a tidbit. The compression lock has really grown on me as well.. GREAT design... I'd still like to see the tang further in the handle, but the compression lock is worth the trade off...
