I Wanted to share pics of my new Green Handle Mule blade, I thought you all might like to see it. Blade is D3 tool steel at 58-59RC, I thought for a simple knife they came out looking great.

Impressive! I have an American Standard Tanto in D3 by Ivan Campos (1/4" thick, chisel ground). Takes an amazing edge and holds it an incredibly long time. Tough to machine, though, which is maybe why more makers don't use it.

Sorry but my eyesight is failing me. Is that a chisel grind with a secondary bevel? I have no idea what advantages chisel grinds afford.

It's a good steel, when I use to compete at BladeSports championship years ago I use to build my cutting competition choppers from this steel.

You're seeing just fine,
Firstly it is simpler to build a chisel ground blade, secondly the secondary edge on the flat side will help the blade to 'cut straight' , I hope this explains it.
