Green Humpback Whale GW?

OK, I see that others who have received the new Green Linen Fat GW have noticed the same definite thumb ridge on the spine with a mixture of sharp and dull edges (the sides of the micarta handle are definitely much darker, grinder burn, I don't know)

I can always sharpen this whale myself, but I hesitate to smooth out the peaked line on the spine into a smooth swell like my other GWs all have...

Here's a lemonade idea, tell me what you think: what about using the spine line as the starting line for a series of shallow thumb grooves cut into the spine for non-slip thumb placement? Would it void the famed and unmatched Busse warrenty? Anyone (Ban?) have any experience adding thumb grooves to a small Busse? Would the Busse Custom Shop do it? (I know, I know, ask them). Just looking for comments, ideas, opinions...

Thanks for the replies,

I have seen several pics of people adding thumb grooves to thier Busses. I wouldnt think a slight modification like that would void the warranty.

Does anyone have a link to the warranty. I've been wondering about this as I consider the mods I want to do to the new Batac.

Here is a picture of the thumb serrations I added to my GW. I would ask Busse about what you are going to do first, just to make sure the warranty is not voided.

I was kicking around the same idea last night. The groove idea sounds great. Put some a little before the ridge. Maybe after because the handle is just a little, .250, too short to really be comfortable with grooves before. Still it would work. I don't think that some small mill marks would void the warranty. Besides I really....highly doubt one would or could snap in half the Fatty GWs.

Did you put a chamfer on the spine?

It looks good. I may have to take that into consideration, if you don’t mind.
