Green River Knife

Hi,
Have just aquired a Green River Kife. It looks fairly old + has GREEN RIVER KNIFE stamped onto the blade. Next to that it has J GREEN 122 REDCLIFFE St. BRISTOL.,stamped on a slight angle. Can anyone tell me the history of this blade. Cheers Tony Orles
 
In the mid 1800s a lot of British knives were made following similar patterns to those made by Russell Green River knives in the US. This enhanced their marketability in the states. You might still see a custom 'Green River Knife' made in the UK but it would be far removed, in quality and looks, from those used on the frontier.
