There are a couple of possibilities here. I think the most likely, judging by the bolsters is that this was an unfinished Heritage series knife that was put together with a regular 8OT blade. The Heritage series knives blades were stainless, marked HERITAGE +. This appears to be a regular carbon steel blade. There were also some red and green bone handled 8OT knives produced that had this tang stamping, but plain bolsters. My guess is that this knife was made using components from both.

Thank You aggiebuilder2003 was also wondering if anyone else has ever seen or has an 8OT with similar scales as I can not find another example on any searches again thanks for the info just trying to sort through the many knives and this one caught my eye

Thank You Bob W that was a good read so that is why I could not find any examples of the green scale 8OT just not a common knife I have to start reducing the collection just every other knife I look into it gets harder to let go as these were my cousins but way to many for me to keep and take care of, well maybe his 165,858, and this one will be the keepers for the humble schrade collection Thanks again as the info everyone shares on bladeforum is awesome as well as the members Thanks again everyone KEEP EM SHARP

Hi nutoknives !!

So you're thinning down the herd?

8OT, 165OT & 858OT - these three models are great representatives of Schrade's recent (1960's on) history
Hope you hang on to more than that and consider maybe donating some to Veterans or gifting to family members and friends

Here's a link to a discussion from back in 2005 (before I started collecting)

Folks talking about which patterns/models they consider essential in a Schrade collection

I agree with the 4" stockman - I like the Uncle Henry version, the 885UH
The 165UH is my favorite model
I use a damaged 858OT a lot, a real handful - someone had shortened the main blade though
Also a big fan of the earlier LB7 lockbacks with the 4 visible pins

I have a very large collection of most of 4" knives, that Schrade made.
From the 3 Buck 301 knives made by Schrade in 1966-67 to the last 2004 (never finish) "*Blue Rope Bone ACB80".
After looking at my HERITAGE knives, your knife is with-out doubt, an unfinish HERITAGE knife with an 8OT blade and Chuck was very quick to pick that.
Your knife is very collectable and would make the best 8OT user.. Ken

It could be end of days, but Schrade sold them like this in the 1990's minus the shield with a white 8OTG sticker on the end of a sharp idea box. Still a "parts" knife (left over Heritage with 8OT blades) they decided to market? Shield left off due to added cost?

here is a sample of the box

Thanks for all the great info the 1990's sounds more like the right timeline as my cousins health was failing in the early 2000's so he did not have many from the later years Thanks again for the help and always KEEP EM SHARP
