My ti Bump lockup is absolutely horrible, especially compared to my new sebenza. I have had this knife for over a year and now it is getting so bad that it is not even locking it safely, tap the spine and it comes unlocked. i was thinking of taking it apart and filing down the ti. any help would be appreciated. What size is the tiny torx that go into the backspacer? thanks, Kris.

I'm guessing that they use the same torx sizes as almost all other knives do nowadays. That would be T8 for the pivot and T6 for the body. You should be able to fix the problem by sending it to Kershaw, though. Their customer service is excellent, and they'll make the effort to correct a knife even if it's discontinued and they don't have parts on hand for it.

I am used to fixing things myself, but i just contacted Kai and i guess i will just send it in.

that's quite strange...I've been using ti bumps for...5 or 6 years now and haven't heard of something like this.

I think, in theory, it would be possible to bend the lockbar further over.

One of the flaws with ti framelocks back then was the lack of any stabilizer. If you're not careful on the bumps, you can be over extending it, and over the months/years reduce its spring tension.

I cant even get the lock bar over, i can force it over but have to pry it back with another knife tip. Its really bad, hopefully Kai will take care of it for me.

well, I mean, take it apart and bend it over.

But Kai is your best bet. Bumps are becoming nearly irreplaceable. But they're worth your effort. I just bought my third ti bump today.

lol well I don't guess I helped much. more of an encouraging voice.

it is an interesting story though. I can only guess this was a result of lockbar over-extension--but I had always wondered if there was any real risk to over-extension or if it was just marketing hyperbole.
