Just wanted to say hi and thank everyone for a great place to kill the last few days.

I am brand new to the world of edges, and have always thought it was beyond mortals to be able to make a good knife. After reading thru some of the posts, and seeing some of the AWESOME makes on here, I want to give it a go with my boys.

Have been looking at the bushcrafting styles (forgive me if I use the wrong terminology), and would like to try my hand at making one, rather than buy one (I know....feeding yet another addiction). Worst case scenario...my boys have a great paperweight to use on their desks one day!

Looking forward to frying my brain this weekend trying to comprehend and learn as much as I can.

Thanks again for providing a great place for a green horn to learn!!!!

Ha, ha...I thought I was going to see some super looking lizard skin.

Welcome to Blade Forums and the craft. You might want to check out Rick Marchand, http://wildertools.net/?page_id=467. He excels at bush craft. He's a fur piece from SC, but we're all right next door in cyberspace.

Enjoy!

Welcome to a great place. There are tons of very experienced people here willing to help. Also read the "stickey" posts on top. Tons of great info.

Aaron contacted me about getting started, I am trying to connect him with a SC maker. I contacted one and am waiting for a response.
Any experienced makers in the Rock Hill or nearby area who wish to give him a leg up should send him an email. He seems like an OK guy. He really wants to make a knife.

Hey Thanks Stacy! I didn't know we had any makers local to me. The more I read, the more I realize how little we really think we know about anything. So much to learn and only 24 hours in a day!!!!

I appreciate this place more and more. You guys do some REALLY nice work.

Thanks again for any help. Have been reading thru the newbie sections and stickies.

Then you have probably seen this, but I'm going to put it here, just in case you missed it.

Thats the best screen name I have seen so far...

Thank you 12345678910ish...I don't know if I have seen v11, but have been reading parts of one for the last 2 days.

Made the boys a wooden knife today to see how a certain knife would feel in my hand. I have a new found respect for you guys! It aint easy, but it sure will be fun.

Thanks again for all the help here.
