I found an old arbor press for low cost and wondered if anyone has used one for forge welding? It’s a big old dude but I’m not sure I should pull the trigger! Saving up to buy a good 2x72” belt grinder also!

An arbor press really can't do what your wanting...
I've seen folks use fly presses for forging, but I don't think an arbor press will work very well.

Comes in super-handy for pressing in new bearings and for when you wanna squish kydex rivets and flare handle tubes!

Lots of uses in the shop, forging just isn't one of them.
