Greenhorn question

I suspect they are just to make it look more "dangerous". I'm not a tactical design fan.

Probably for looks. On a larger knife, looks, plus another lanyard attachment point.

You fellas are having too much fun with the multi-tool aspect of the knife. The idea of using any knife as a wrench gives me cause for concern... Anyway, here you go, happy Thanksgiving:

It is an oxygen wrench fitting, the long hole with the rounded ends and the smaller round holes are for bending wires. Per Buck (regarding a collaboration with Tops, Nighthawk, incorporating the same dot-dash-dot holes in the blade) "Also incorporated in the design is the TOPS blade slot for wire bending, adjusting Oxygen bottles and to serve other needs."

WOW, if that title did not have click-bait written all over it ... LOL

Oregon,
You are on the same page as where I was headed.

I wonder if anyone actually confirmed fit to validate they got it right after coating applied?

You see similar designs on breaching tools, and sailing tools where slots and cutouts index hardware, fire hydrants, etc., farm tools for engaging fence wire, military tools for engaging barbed-wire, etc. Buck Hoodlum slot as a pot lifter and wire tool & a batoning blade break indexing point ;-) All good stuff when it comes to tools of a trade :-)
