Hello, gentlemen. I just registered on the board and would like to introduce myself. I'm a USMC vet of the Vietnam War and retired from the NJ State Police and now live in the mountains of NE PA.
I've been collecting knives since I was a young man (a long time ago). I recently picked up a Blackjack/Ek Commando knife, Model BJ-3W. It has the standard Ek emblem on the blade near the hilt, but also has the letters "U.S.M.C." inside some scrollwork at or near the center of the blade. The handle is covered with green para-cord and the blade appears to be ceramic.
Can anyone tell me anything about this knife such as when it may have been made, how many were made, etc?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, and it's nice to see another NJ transplant in NE Pennsy.

Check out Bernard Levines section in another part of the forum, you should be able to get all your answers there.

and was in business for only one or two years. Someone's gotta know when they went out of business, so that may narrow it down for you...

sorry I can't be of more help...

I had one I bought back in the late 80's. Mine was a bowie though with micarta. Yours seems to be a basic paracord model made as a commemorative (it appears). the blade is bead blasted not ceramic. If in mint it will probably go for around $150.00 (naybe).

Thanks for the information! Glad to hear that the blade isn't ceramic. I was told this and almost didn't buy it because of it as I wasn't keen on the idea of the brittle ceramic blade. Thanks again!
