Hello folks.
First off, wanted to spout greetings to all of you and introduce myself as a lurker of some months, sometimes ready to speak. This is a great place with 'friends-I-haven't-met-yet', just chock full of things I'd like to know.
Since gaining my "new bad habit", I've learned a lot from y'all, and appreciate it sincerely. I've been working part time in a knife shop for a while, and as most of you would probably guess, there's a new excuse to buy everytime I show up. Folks with better heads and experience than I have helped keep me grounded in this, and money saved for the *next* expensive purchase.
AN extra special thanks to Nelsonmc, whose cutting adventures rival mine own, with the ability to hurt himself, laugh at it, go back and do it *again* and laugh some more. And in posting here, encourage to see that part in ourselves. I was fooling around with a BM Mini-grip and managed to slit a part of my palm closing it. Came back to work a week later and did the same damned thing, the same damned way!
Been carrying an SAK for almost 30 years, and bought Spyderco Sharpmaker about the 2nd or 3rd year they were out, and being sold at the homeshow.
A couple of the best investements I've ever made, and it is heartening to see the special place a lot of folks have for them, and that it wasn't my imagination that they weren't bad buys.
Have picked up a SOG Twitch XL and a Spyderco Calypso Jr. also, being the best walking advertisement in my town for that Calypso. Didn't like its looks at first, but man, what a great buy! Once again, great to see so many happy users of them in here!
Well, I've stretched the electrons enough in this post, but wanted to say "Howdy", so I don't post out of the blue as a total newbie.
Sometimes I actually have something worth saying.

Thanks again everybody for the feelings of a great place to be, while pursuing a great hobby dating to the roots of man.

Best regards,
DeadFish

Hey Deadfish, welcome to Bladeforums. I'm a bit new here myself, read lots and lots of posts till I decided I really needed to register and "chat" myself. It's fun to read all the old threads and such, but lots more fun to be actually able to join in the discussion. Have fun!

Welcome DF, it's nice to see a person of taste and discernment, as evidenced by your appreciation of the Sharpmaker and Calypso, has joined the crowd. :)

Deadfish,

Glad you decided to join us for the ride. I hope you enjoy this place at least as much as I do.

Welcome to the madness!

Glad you decided to come out of the dark corner and participate, the more the merrier. It sure is hard passing up on a cheaper knife to get that new knife high, but just keep that next big purchase in mind and you will soon pass on more and more expensive knives. Just wait until you get into customs that you might wait over a year for, and pay hundreds of dollars for.

The fun has just begun

Thanks for the great welcome.
"Welcome to the madness!"
Ah, just what I need, more mania! ;) Well, at least I have great company.
Looking forward to shariing the ride!

My wife thought I was nuts when I started listening to tubed audio gear, but strangely enough, has relaxed with the knives. Then again, I've got her carrying a Gerber multitool and a Cold Steel pocketknife. (First woman I ever dated who carried a knife when I met her!) This kind of paves the way for gifts she can understand. :D

I'm still fondling the Benchmades and lusting after Sebenzas, looking for the one that has to go home with me, but with you folks behind me, I'm sure I'll choose just fine.
Is it madness, not misery this time, that loves company?

Cool!

I'll be seeing y'all on the Funway!

Regards,
DeadFish

Welcome to the Forum. Enjoy your stay here and congratulations on your inspired acquisition. The Calypso jr. is a great slicer. It is so sharp that the hair on my forearm falls down only when it sees the blade ;)
