I´m just about to order my very first kukri, a 15" HI BAS. Do you think it's going to be a bad habit?

Sgt. D, it will give a whole new meaning to the word "habit." Perhaps the more appropriate word would be addiction. But, regardless, welcome to the world of HIKV sufferers -- misery loves company! Glad to have you aboard!

Welcome, Sgt.D. I wouldn't classify it as "bad" but, as Steven said, it will redefine your meaning of the word "habit."

first you're going to want to amass a bunch of different styles and examples of different makers for yourself. Then you'll rationalize the need to spread the word by getting a bunch for your friends. And let's not forget the children; even if you don't have any, perhaps you will later, and it will be important to have some blades earmarked for handing down to them. But be warned: there may come a time when you find you just can't bring yourself to part with those models you originally bought with specific friends and relatives in mind. You may decide that the best thing after all is just to keep hold of them yourself as they aren't quite "right" for that person. This opens wide the door to buying more in search of the "perfect" gift. Where does it all end? Dunno.
