I am sitting on the mezzanine of the Mayflower hotel on Connecticut and K street in Washington, DC.
This place is really nice. I am up here for the National Tartan Ball. I requested an upgraded room, and since the place isn't packed today, I got an executive small suite. My first apartment didn't have much more room.

The National Tartan Ball is held by the DC Saint Andrew's Society. It is a grand affair, appropriately held in the Grand Ballroom.

I am donating a custom Damascus folder with exhibition MOP scales.

Photos of the knife next, and the affair later. First, the room:

This is Winifred, Queen of Shropshire and Duchess of Cheeswick. She came along in case THE Queen dropped in and wanted to have tea. The rough looking chap is her devoted servant and bodyguard, Wilberforce ( and her lover on the sly). He is a bit rough around the edges but would fight lions to protect Winnie.

They sit on the headboard at home, and often travel with us.
