Made it in last evening about 6 PM. Major accident just outside Kansas City required detour. Noticed they had imported a crane to pick up the pieces. Another accident about 20 minutes down the road. An almost accident another 20 minutes later. Are these Kansas drivers trying to tell me something?

Anyway, made it safe and sound even if others didn't and am settled in. Nephew Travis & wife, Joni, in good condition. Will see a couple of old pals today while the ladies decorate the Catholic hall for tomorrow night festivities. Cousin Jim Martino (owner & operator of local "Mall Deli"), youngest son of fabled & sainted Uncle Lou, will cater the event. 90 year old Dad scheduled to arrive tomorrow with sisters, Fran & Gerry. Nieces, Holly & Winnie, also scheduled to arrive tomorrow with lots of kids. LOTS of family. Brother says he has a couple of 12 packs of Heineken stashed for me. I'll need them.

More reports as events unfold.

Stay tuned and please take it easy on Rusty.

I spent 4 days in Manhattan, Kansas broken down. Tranny blew on the freeway. Glad to see you made it in o.k.

It is nice just to hear you check in now and again. You are the heart of the forum, no two ways about it.

Knowing when to bite my tongue and shut up, thats the problem, and sometimes I just don't see it. Even after a couple cups of coffee. It's not the folks on the forum, I think there's a leak in my common sense I should have plugged a long time back.

...a slow leak, I gather? Let's hope so! There will need to be plenty of Rusty to go around!

Keith

Glad you arrived safe and sound after your journey.
Sounds more like road travel in Nepal / India
Enjoy your family and your visit and know that you are missed in the Cantina :(
Wishing you a wonderful time, look forward to your safe return.:D

You'll always remember this trip and have things to smile about.. People will wonder what Mr. Bill is smiling about with his eyes shut.

Glad you made it safe. Again, try to enjoy.:) ;)

Good to see you made it there safe Uncle Bill. 12 packs of Heineken eh? All for you or all for the group?;) Have a good time with the family now.:)

Still alive and kicking. Cook out last night -- about a dozen folks -- burgers, local Italian sausage and some of the best you can find, teriayki steak, and three home baked pies for dessert. And a 12 pack of Heineken which I didn't finish off for a change. Brother Fred asked, "well, shall we get hammered, brother, and impress the in-laws or try to maintain?" We decided that we probably should maintain and did more or less. Good time. Brother & I up till wee hours solving probems of the world both past and present.

Thanks for good help, Rusty. You will do just fine as usual.

Busy day today. Will try to give report tomorrow AM.

Stay well, all.

Uncle Bill,

Dr.Dean Ornish one of the most respected heart specialists/experts--and one of the few MD's who advocates a combination of diet, exercise AND attitude changes to heal the heart, has said many times that people who socialize and drink alot are often alot healthier (and live longer) than folks who are health fanatics, but don't have many friends or socialize much. I guess the stress reducing benefits of being around other people outweigh most of the negative effects of drinking:)

I love it when they tell you being bad ain't so bad after all..:D If I'd a known this maybe I wouldn't have quit drinking;)

Survived the reception and everything else. Heading back this evening and with any luck it'll be business as usual tomorrow.

Thanks, Rob. I have to print that post so I can take it to my cardiologist next visit.

Bill,

I wish you a safe and speedy return. BTW, going through Wyoming? ;)

Gratuitous comment:

When it comes to cardiologists and heart surgeons, let's just say I didn't get a ccw permit because I was afraid of getting mugged in the hospital parking lot.
