I was worried too and am glad we got news and everything is OK.
I must be keeping Oz hours now, no wonder i feel all upside down this morning. ;)

Glad to hear Yangdu made it safe and sound:) I was keeping an ear open about the 'quake. Continued smoke and good thoughts going up for a safe, productive, and enjoyable trip:)

Just curious, what is Auntie's journey back home to Nepal typically like? For example, does she have to take 3 different flights plus a long bus/car ride? Or does she fly direct to Kathmandu and then take the train? I've never been to Nepal and have always been curious about what it takes to get to the shop where our beautiful khukuris are made. Perhaps an old-timer who's ventured out to Nepal before can respond?

Generally, it take several interconnecting flights to get to Kathmandu and then a bus or car ride to get to any relatives.
With layovers and such, it takes a couple of days to get there.

My recent route from the US was Beijing/Chengdu/Lhasa/Kathmandu. Some time ago I went New Delhi/Kathmandu. It will be some time, if ever, before there are direct flights from the US to Kathmandu.

Glad Yangdu is fine and safe....good news is always welcome thank you for the update..

Glad to hear the journey is going ok.
Our thoughts are with Yangdu and all the folks there:)
