Hello:

My first post here! (Moderators, if I'm breaking any rules, please correct me).

Just recently, I was hit with the sudden, overwhelming urge to make my own knives. I don't know why. I mean, I sort-of collect knives (and have a few pretty neat, older pieces, including a Miller Brothers US Navy gravity rope knife). It just hit me, and all within the last 2 weeks. I was recovering from a surgery, and had a lot of time to kill.

Looking around at the various custom knife threads, the quality is utterly amazing. I have some favorites, but my God, it's not easy making choices like that.

I have a couple of knife making books on order (which can't get here fast enough), and I'll probably ask a bunch of redundant questions that have already been answered.

Just to warn you now. :)

I'm pretty laid-back, and I'd love any input that the veterans can give me!

Sincerely,

Andre

Just a word of advice about asking questions. Not that we don't like answering them but doing the legwork first so that you don't ask things easily found in the FAQ will make the knowledgeable makers around here more inclined to help.
