Greetings

MisterScary, first of all welcome.I would stay on the various forums, get copies of all knife publications, read all the GB&U posts to see how not to treat a customer, and study study study. Then send off to the myriad of manufacturers to find out dealer info. Many companies require substantial initial purchases and a certain volume per year. There is more but this should get you started.Hope it helps,Dave:)

but is there a law that says you can't buy knives from manufacturers to sell to the public, unless you have a dealer's license

Only in Kalifornia......just kidding :D :D :D :D

Some manufacturers require a business license before you will get wholesale pricing. In you case,I'm guessing an Orlando city license,an Orange county license and a State of Florida resale tax certificate.I am also guessing that would be around $200-$300.If it was too easy and cheap everyone would do it.It requires a great deal of work and sometimes lots of money to do this.Dave:)

If you are wanting to get started on a shoestring budget.Try going to the local flea markets and gun shows.Talk to the guys that are selling and collecting the knives you are wanting to sell.I have seen allot of guys get really good starts in collectable and cheap knives at the gun shows just by buying from other dealers and then re selling and going back and buying some more then selling them and so on and so on,after awhile they will take you under there wing and let you know where to buy from yourself.
Maybe this will help some.

Look through the entripenure magazines. There used to be a knife selling business that would set up in a mall aile way that looked like a giant folder and gave all the contacts to buy the knives from..Sorry I can't find the magazines I used to have that showed this. But I figure someone is still helping people get started in this type of endevore.
