Hello everyone. My name is Shane - my friends call me Hickory - and I'm currently living in Maryland. As part of my mid-life crisis, I have recently rekindled my interest in blades - mostly tactical/field blades, being a Marine Veteran - but I appreciate all good craftsmanship and look forward to learning more about each style.

I mentioned I'm a Veteran - I still work for Uncle Sam as a civilian. Love the work - but I work to live...not the other way around. Happily married with three rapidly-growing kids and a pack of Collie dogs out back. I look forward to reading and participating in more discussions here at Blade Forums.

Welcome aboard! This is a great bunch of guys and gals.
I got three boys myself and happily married. Go figure:D

Welcome- I am a vet too...USAF '81-'87. Have a son in now too. This is a fun place and lots to enjoy and learn.

Welcome aboard, fellow MD resident. Lock up your wallet now! :)

BTW, where are you in MD?

Welcome Hickory, sit back and enjoy all the sharp stuff. Oh Yeah, hide the credit cards, way too many tempting knives show up here.

Hiya Hickory, Welcome Aboard.

If you get a chance go and have a look at this BF dog owners' thread and maybe post some photo's of your Collies, whether they be Border Collies or Collie Roughs like 'Lassie'

Also you might enjoy reading about the Khukuri, a very interesting alternative blade for outdoors use.

I will indeed post some pics as soon as I get some more. I had a hard drive crash a few weeks ago and took most of our current pics with it. My Wife raises and shows Roughs, so we have a yard full.

I'm glad you pointed me to the khukri section. I have one I bought from a Ghurka veteran a few years ago - I'll have to post a pic of that, too.

Thanks, all, for the warm welcome.
