OK to not get long winded about this I have a question for anyone. I would assume that everyone in this Forum is a Fan of the ESEE Co. and knives. I have been led here by many hours of research, and the WARRANTY! Not just because if I were to go out and purposely break my knife they would give me a NEW one. Its the we care about our customers!!!! attitude I love....I mean they even direct you to their distributors to purchase their knives cheaper than on their WEB! WHO DOES THIS? Well apparently they do! I just want to say thanks to everyone at ESEE for being so generous.

On to my question..are they really as good as everyone says they are? If so I'm planning to buy five here in the next few weeks. No I don't have a disposable income. I happen to be a public servant who has saved and wants to buy some good knives to last me a lifetime. I want the RC-4 for my son and I as our survival knives?, and an RC-3 for my SWAT vest. I also plan to purchase an IZULA for my wife and I (of course Pink for her). I am planning on having a life long relationship with this company if all works out. I'm rambling sorry, just wondering if the hype is just that. Lastly I only have one knife now and don't plan on buying everything in sight or that comes out I want some good no nonsense knives I can pass down to my son, and that will stand up to some abuse. Thanks so much.

Welcome to the forum.

I might be considered a bit bias by some but yes, I think that the knives will live up to the hype.

I don't think you'll be disappointed in our blades. And if you are for some reason, there's a very healthy aftermarket for them, even well used.

Welcome, and thank you for your service in law enforcement.

ESEE knives will last more than a lifetime, with proper care. I have absolute faith in all three ESEE knives I own, an Izula, an RC-5 and an RC-4. I'll add more as money allows.

Long story short, you just can't go wrong with your choices.

Enjoy!

Sounds like you came to the right place! They make some useful tools that you can pass on to your family. Just look at some more pictures and I'm sure your list of knives to get will grow! :D

I now own 5 ESEE blades and in my opinion, yes they live up to the hype.

The thing is, with ESEE (and Jeff will comment on this) there is no hype and no BS marketing schemes. Well made knives that people can afford with an unconditional warranty. Period. Not much hype there. If there is a knife that performs better than an ESEE blade, Jeff will be the first one to say it.

Welcome, enjoy poking around here.

I have just a very limited experience with the Izula but so far, it absolutely lives up to all the praise. It's a very affordable knife and as shotgunner pointed out, there's a very healthy aftermarket for them... you can pick up an Izula and see how you like ESEE/RAT knives without having to put out much coin up front. If you don't like it for whatever reason, you could easily sell it for about $5 cheaper than what you paid for it.

ESEE makes the best fixed blade for the money IMO...they are awesome knives, and are very reasonably priced...no nonsense designs with a no nonsense warranty backing them...i think you will not be disappointed in them at all:thumbup:

I completely agree.

p.s. Welcome to the Forum.

Indeed welcome and thanks for what you do. Any blade you choose should do you just fine. On another note you might also look at the HEST for the swat vest, don't know if having a little pry bar on you would come in handy, but the bottle opener will undoubtedly make you a go to guy with your team.

Welcome,
Before placing an order I would email Jeff or Mike about a law enforcement/Military discount of course you have to prove that but just thought I'd toss that out there.
http://www.eseeknives.com/law enforcement.htm
email him from work - so it's got your LE email address.
not sure what the discount is at that point, because it's not advertised, but it should be fair.
I like my 3 (Izula, ESEE3, & 6) - they do their job, don't give me any kind of feeling they're going to fail, and the price point is reasonable.
I think you're spot on picking the ESEE4 as your GP knife. It's a good size without being too big. The -6 has a larger grip, which I like a lot, but the blade length can cause concerns for some folks, while the -3 & -4 don't becuase they're that much smaller overall.

welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your service. I don't really consider myself to be a knife nut (although I've had a few thousand $ in knives), I just want the absolute best for the money, regardless of whether we are talking knives, watches, guns, cars, whatever.

Some may get tired of hearing me say this all the time but the best way I can say what I think of these knives is that I've had Busses, Striders, Emersons, whatevers and I've gotten rid of most of them. Nothing beats ESEE for the money. There may be a blade out there made better with special proprietary meteorite steel quenched in unicorn tears and hand forged by the moonlight on an anvil only touched by virgins but you won't find a better blade for the $ than ESEE.

And you won't find a better company anywhere. In any industry. Maybe there are a few AS good, but none better.

Buy them and beat the dog-snot out of them. If you break one, you get a new one. If you don't like them, you'll have no problem selling them on the forums here, I would imagine.

The only other thing I would offer is to also suggest you take a hard look at the HEST. Depending on your environment and responsibilities, that might be a more practical knife for the vest.

Be safe!

Your check's in the mail Expat :D

In all seriousness, the customer is the most importnat thing in our company's philosophy. There are many knives out there as good, if not better, than our own but there are few company's that put the customer before anything else. That's the backbone of ESEE Knives and Randall's Adventure & Training.

Hey I wanted to Thank All of you for your input! I do want to clarify a couple of things! The hype was the knife world not ESEE, just by looking around the ESEE site I can see that they care! Again that speaks volumes for me! On another note I don't need Thanks for serving I am a very small cog in a very large WHEEL, I didn't throw the SWAT thing out there to look cool either! I pay my bills with it and thats it. I do take it very seriously, but its a job and thats it. I do thank you tho for the things you said! You guys are funny I love it, EXPATRITED that was funny! I'm glad to be here! Oh and ESEE are you planning on doing any domestic classes in the CA area or closer? And for the other knives Naaaaaa from what I see I will be hitting you guys up and using ESEE knives!!!!!!!!!! Be safe and God bless you guys are very welcoming.

I may be out in the CA area soon running down a story on this border issue. Since the rancher got murdered this thing has really turned hot.

Hello and welcome DRKNTE,

I am a newbie here as well, and just yesterday received my first & second ESEE blades.(RC-6, Izula) And I can say without any doubt that these are "heirloom" quality works of art that are built to take a beating. I have my father's WWII Cattaraugau(K-bar) navy knife that I love to pieces and just don't want to lose in the woods. I searched and researched knives to take it's place and decided to go with the ESEE RC-6. If you read my post, you'll see how impressed and happy I am with the choice.

Best of luck and be safe in your choosing,

Regards,

Mike

Welcome to the addiction - I have three ESEE blades currently and going on four for many of the same reasons you list. I am also a newb ESEE owner and was drawn to ESEE due to the fine reviews of how tough and useful they are - and the fact that they are backed by a terrific company. Also the folks that hang out on this site are top notch sources for information.

A simple answer to your question, no hype no BS.Yes they really are that good. They are an addiction probably because they are exactly what they claim.
