Anyone out there have pics of Covington's take on the Hobbit Warrior? Been curious to see this knife ever since I saw it mentioned in one of the forums.
I remember seeing a picture of the knife in question. As I remember it had some subtle changes from the original design. Furthermore it featured some improvements which escapes me at the moment. But as mentioned the knives from Greg Covington is/was well made or at least that is the impression I got from handling a couple of his knives.
I remember it from years ago. Imagine a Hobbit blade in a flat micarta handle that was shaped and angled like the original Hobbit handle, but as mentioned, just flat. Inside the waistband kydex sheath, matte finished blade. Covington was a very good maker with some neat ideas.
I remember the Hobbit copy being a real pain in the butt and it was prior to my forging days. I made several variants actually but the one most people want to see is the model with a black linen micarta handle, sandblasted stainless fittings, and a 1095 blade that I coated with black Kalgard.
Back in 2006 my best buddy died and the wife split all inside of one week. Got dumped with the house ...etc...you know the story. Long story short, very happily married now but at the time I had to set aside a few things.
I still have all my equipment, forges, anvil, Frink grinder, etc....I just need to eventually setup again. I don't have a shop building anymore
I miss it like hell....but as of late, believe it or not, I've been building electric guitars and amps!
