I want to own a Chinese Folder, it is a very nice knife and I decide to buy it...so I was looking for a dealer in Europe to order one (I live in France : it is more simple !).

Thanks to the forum, I know the green and the blue one. But there is a knife seller/maker in Germany who proposes a grey one (Böker Germany "grau" in german seems "grey" in english). I was asking Bôker and they confirme the knife is realy grey.

What does it mean ? Does Spyerco make a third color ? Is it a special knife without Almite coating ? I can not see the knife before buying, I can only order it...what should I do, a grey one please me better :D

What you are looking at there is a Gunmetal Blue chinese folder. It is not what you would usually consider blue, and I think it would look different up close.

I have one!!! Its like a gunmetal blue (kinda greyish blue) and the color is really cool. Otherwise its exactly like any other Lum Chinese folder, which is a great knife anyways.

Ok ! I understand, thank for the information.

In any case, the design of this knife is so nice and interesting, I will order it even it is pink with mauve spots :)

But, if I have the choice, my wish will be an aluminium grey handle with a serrated blade... (it takes all sorts to make a world !)

What do you think about it ?

Just one man's opinion, but the Lum folder is too "pretty" to have a serrated edge. The VG10 blade in plain edge comes scary sharp & the serrations just (to me anyway) mess up the "lines" of the knife. You'll love it.

For the serrations, it is just because I used to use it (since the day of my first Spyderco purchase). Anyway, I don't have the choice : the Chinese Folder I want to buy is a blue one and it is not available with serrations (Am I right ?). I had the same problem with the Viele C42, and for esthetic considerations I finally buy a plain edge one. Why not with this knife ?

For the color, I just understand the Gunmetal Blue was using for the C62BL. I was seen one so I can imagine how is the Chinese Folder...:D

Thank for your comments and your help !

Will this help?

I cobbled it together from a larger pic that someone posted.

Hey! That pic looks awful familar...

And yes, the gunmetal blue Lum Chinese Folder comes in PE only. There is no SE version of it.

And I definitely agree about the lines of the blade - PE works much better than SE does. The green Lum Chinese Folder does come in SE, tho.

I just got a plain edged Blue Lum, and I like it quite a lot. It is a very classy looking knife that looks as if it will cut and cut and cut and then cut some more. The blue-grey color is what I would call a "Cadet Grey", in that it is nearly the color of a VMI or West Point Cadet uniform. The hilt is unbelievably light for one with full steel liners.
