I have a grievance in regards to the last paragraphs that Guyon posted, before he locked out my thread. I would like to opportunity to correct these statements below that are not entirely accurate, and also to allow a handshake of friendship after doing so, to him.

I am trying to "clear the air" here.. with my very best and honorable intentions. I do not think, that myself posting this below is any infraction as I'm really trying put forth a good effort in regards to explaining my actions.

Additionally, the thread was locked out with this below without a chance for me to reply and I was given an "infraction" for "extorting the company", which is also was never my intent... before and even now, it still is not.

Reference para 1:
" The 'free stuff' item in question is a Glass Filled Nylon sheath that happytom decided he needed for his review."
That is true, I initially asked said company, if i could review a glass filled nylon sheath, but also it is true that when "the company" in question did not want to send it... Yes.. I was not happy with the default scripted response back from that company, but I did tell them that "I" would buy it myself after that. I should of used more professional courtesy to them, and worded my reply to them differently... as such.. I was wrong in that regard.

Reference para 2:
"When (said company), did not readily send out a free sheath, the complaints about an indention in the leather sheath began, first on Facebook and then here on two different sub-forums."
Yes Sir, that is true. I did post that in regards to the defect, in hopes that they would actually respond differently than the Facebook rep and send me either the leather sheath or the nylon one. Sorry to speak my mind in regards to the over all principal of the matter. In retrospect... I "can" actually see now.. from your perspective and from the moderators here on the fourm that both before and afterwards 1 + 1 does not add up. Everyone does not know me.. and I was trying to post my "real" intent. I did think about this today, and I can see things.. "from your viewpoint".. in regards to where you are coming from.

Reference para 3:
"Other moderators agree that leveraging the forum's public presence for material gain is not welcome. Nor is such sour-grapes, mud-dragging."
I just want to let you and the other moderators know, that was never my intent on this forum, I just wanted a new sheath from them. And again, if none of this transpired, I still would expect any company to send me a new leather as an replacement, regardless if others that do not think it is that much of a "big deal", as it is to me.

I also did what I said I was going to do, and I donated the knife in question to an active member of the military. I always donate 98% of the items that companies freely send to me, to the military and other groups that need said items. "Lesson Learned" for "me" is to never mix things up like I did.. i'll never do that again. I hope that all of what I write above is acceptable to you.

You asked for free stuff to review. The second I read that in the original thread, your credibility was blown.

It's weasely enough, in my opinion, when makers, retailers, etc give away stuff for people to review , but "reviewers" ASKING for free stuff?!?!

No.

Hopefully you have learned lessons about what is meant by an independent, unbiased review.

And I do hope you haven't permanently tarnished your rep.

Apparently you have no clue how the review thing works.... Many, Many....If not all reviewers ask for free stuff from companies to review. Just yesterday I advised a manufacturer about a reviewer asking for a blade to review, and have done so many times before.

Seriously?

Seriously?

I have significantly more than a clue about how the process works. You are not the sole repository of knowledge on how theknife world works.

I just happen to not like it.

Why would you not just leave well enough alone? Here we go again with this wall of text mess all over again.
This whole thing seems shady from the beginning, definitely not a good way to get the ball rolling here. Your "apology" would have been much more sincere had it been done privately, but it seems you are only after more attention. Maybe I am wrong here, but that is the impression you've given throughout this entire soap opera. All over a stupid, plastic, sheath no less. I guess some people just don't know when to leave well enough alone.

3 sides to every story.....
He should also be allowed to tell his side, IMHO.

Rev...Please move this to W&C so we can tell this fool what you get when you beg for free stuff !...He needs to see the New South Park !

He has told his side, over and over again, and not just here. He told his side to KA-BAR before he came to Bladeforums.

This is a knife discussion forum, not a customer service office. We don't need to hear it again, we don't need the drsma, either. Mr. Nice Guy that I am, I am going to take no further action here beyond closing this useless and improper thresd.

Apparently, you have no clue about this particular case, and you're just flailing in the face of anything BFC authorized--which apparently has become the new norm.

The request was asked and answered via email long ago. Then it migrated to Facebook. Then to Ka-Bar. Then to GB&U. Now, here we are in Tech Support.
This whole thing has become a one-sided pissing match carried out on social media with the intent to somehow shame Ka-Bar. The effect, however, has backfired.

Reviewers are welcome to ask for free items for review. But it's not kosher for them to go off the rails when those requests are refused--in this case, time and energy was expended well beyond the value of a $10 sheath because of spite. I've seen this phenomenon before with a reviewer connected to the Becker community. He is now persona non grata in that crowd because he lost so much respect.
