Hello all,

I have a Grimsmo Norseman and I cannot open it with just the thumb stud. (at least with my thumb) It is new (virtually unused) but an older one and I have not flipped it very much. I wrote to Grimsmo about it and got no response after several weeks. Maybe they thought it was a stupid question. Guessing the stud is not just for decoration. I am wondering if it needs oil or an adjustment or maybe both. Did not want to take it apart unless absolutely necessary. It's very smooth to open with the flipper tab and maybe it just needs a lot of flipping. If anyone else has experienced this I would like to know the fix. Thanks for your thoughts.

Thank you both! I have a number of frame locks and "know" about not pressing the lock. You helped me figure out that the thumb stud doesn't work well for my hand size, which is medium, I would say. My thumb is too short. I can't hold the knife and use the thumb stud without slightly pressing the edge of the frame lock which I didn't think I was doing, but I was. It will be a flipper knife for me. I do love their work and want to buy the Rask if I am ever selected and they have one I like. There are about a dozen or so Norseman's currently on their website but no Rasks. Thanks again, problem solved!

See if you can push the thumb stud straight forward only (not out from the handle or down into the blade). If you can get that motion down correctly, I've found it works the best for all the thumb stud knives I have. If you really aren't pushing into the blade at all, it also doesn't matter if your finger is on the lockbar. One of my framelocks is oversized and is particularly sensitive to opening method, this is the only way that works for me.
