Does anyone know what angle the M6 grind is? I know it is a convex edge just don't know what angle it is at?
thanks

Well, do you mean the "grind angle" of the blade or the edge bevel degree?

I can't give you the factory angle of the M6 edge - mine is reprofiled to a convenient angle for my loaded strop. I would bet the factory edge is around 40-45 degrees for a hard use, 1/4" thick stock.

V-edge too. You can make it convex easily enough. The only Rat that came with a convex from the factory, to my recollection, was the Satin Battle Rat. Sorta like the SYK LE S6. I don't recall if the YardKeeper LE, at Blade 07, was a convex or not.

Good luck!

Actually most of the Rat edges are slight convex, however this is hard to see without putting a straight edge on them. If you try to sharpen them on stones you'll be able to see it also.

PM is probably pretty close to correct on the edge angle though

:foot: Doh! I guess when I think "convex," it's more full convex like the SBR, S6LE and stuff like Barkies. The stuff Jerry called "ZT" edges.

No wonder the Rats are so easy to convex on your own - it is already marginally started!:D

You are correct PM, they are not fully convexed or anything near a Zero edge like on the ZT's or the SBR. However, they do have a slight convex, and if you are using a strop or the sandpaper method to sharpen you probably wouldn't notice the slight convex edge. They look like a flat edge until you put them against a straight edge
