Hey all,
I posted this a couple of days ago on CKD and forgot to put it here as well.
I'm working on a knife for Bagheera. One of the major features on this design is the single bevel edge grind ala. Scandinavian style.
All of the knives (about 5) that I've done so far have all been of the full flat grind style. Now I run into a new challenge of keeping a straight and pretty grind line down the length of the blade.
As I am making this one as a gift for a good friend, I want it to be as perfect as possible.
Are there any tips or tricks that I'm missing for doing this work? Is is a simple matter of practicing? I picked up some low carbon flatstock at Home Depot to practice on.
Also, how perfect do I want my grind lines prior to heat treat? I'm leaving about a 3/32" thickness for heat treat and then will remove that in the finishing stages. Is that where I want to really fix the grindlines or should it all be pretty much done prior?
Any info will surely help.
I'm pretty sure most of this will translate to hollow grinding as well.
Thanks
