Hey Guys
Can you guys help a Beginner? How is the best way to remove Grind marks from the belt Sander? I have sand paper and a block of wood and Elbow power.
Thanks

Start with something like 400 grit and work your way up. :D

If I ever scratch a clip or something I tend to just buff it out with some 400 grit paper. Nice satin finish, but I dunno how well it'd work for a hardened blade.

Thanks
I was told that sandpaper and elbow works the best! I think that I will learn how to grind with less pressure.

Flat grind or hollow?.....If flat grind, rap your paper in a file and use some pressure...carl

Grind marks on what ?

Depending on the depth of the grind marks, you may want to start with a more coarse abrasive than 400 grit.

You need to follow the steps of polishing a blade. Work your piece in one direction with your abrasive until the marks/scratches are gone. Then change direction with a finer grit so you can see the previous abrasive's mark disappear. Continue until you get the finish you want.

If you start with too fine of a grit, you will still remove the original marks, but it will take much much longer.

If not too deep try steel wool - its made in different "grits" and sold at the hardware store in the paint section.
