Was thinking of a way to take a wheel grinder, and adapt a wheel/pulley setup to put a belt on one side, and have the wheel on the other. Anybody have any suggestions? i looked at mcmaster-carr and found the pulley i would need, but moneys tight, im looking for low budget. Any help would be great. Also i got this idea from an adapter someone was selling on ebay, but it was $200 so not low budget...

and i had an idea to use a portable belt grinder to mount to a table or build a table around it to use as a grinder, like i said something low cost.

It is far from ideal. It will be able to do some profiling and rough edge beveling but you will probably outgrow it or want something different in a short time.

thats exaclty what i was talking about. i figured ill eventually want something better, but that would wait until my wallet got heavier, until then the above attachment would be great, anyone know where one can be bought for a good price?

Its cheaper just to buy a complete unit off of ebay. The tracking and construction is horrible. I've extended mine into a 72" slack belt with a sprung tension arm and a door hinge for tracking.

I looked at something like that for a transient shop at my folks during the summer. Ended up abandoning it as it turned out pricier than I was willing to invest in a solution that is a compromise at best. Ended up picking up a Craftsman 2"x42" belt / 6" disk combo grinder at a swap meet by my folks' for $30. It's a so so solution, but even at full price cheaper than the other approach. There's a thread on the subject running on BF right now, Craftsman 2x42 Grinder Mods.
