I got a lot of new old stock belts that have came apart. The tape that holds the two ends together. is that a special tape or glue that holds it together?

you might try 3m #90 spray adhesive.
heat set glues don't hold well as sanding belts get pretty hot, unless it's a very high temp glue.

I have talked with the tech guys at Klingspor about the resin used to make belts.
None of the above suggestions are likely work.
The adhesive used for bonding belts is a very special material that is shipped on dry ice and stored in a sub-zero freezer. It has a super short shelf life at room temp....something like one day.
There is no practical and safe way to bond your own belts.

I figured it had to be some awesome tape to hold it together but didn't think it would be that hard to get a hold of. Wonder if I could ship them back and have them do it ? I have like 50 belts there good belts other than they come apart at the ends

There are some services that will resplice belts for you. I would search google for them. I know that Tim Britton has had them done somewhere here in NC, but I don't have the name on hand.

i have glued belts together with superglue and had good results but it took a lot of trial and error to get them to hold. i run them slow and somewhat loose.
