sears sells a grinder with a 4" wide belt, i've seen these used for cleaning up flats on blades, are they worth it? i have a gift certificate i want to use up and thats all i can think of. and i hate sanding flats through the rough grits.
how true are these machines? if they're not is there a way i can attach a hardedned piece of flat stock to it to up the precision? thanks guys.

:) I used a Sears 6"X 48" several years ago. The table wasn't true enough for really flat work. I also had trouble with the belt tracking.

GrassHoppa I also have one if you would like to try it.

i have a 4x36 sears belt disc combo sander, i modified the tool rest for more
support and also put some flat stock behind the belt for a flatter surface and
i use it for surface grinding, tracks great and works fine!!!!!!!!!!
