Grinder motor...electric or bench?

I'm in the enviable position of being about to get my own grinder. A local manufacturer whispered words that seemed wise into my furry little ear and I'm convinced now that I want an electric motor rather than a bench grinder motor/attachment. Does he speak the truth? Will it run quieter and more reliably? TIA

He is most definitly right! Grab a variable speed motor and controller if you can. I found a dude on ebay that says he's fixin to have a bunch of new 1 horse dc motors with controlers for around $125. As soon as he lets me know about em I'll post his contact info here.
