was looking to step up my grinder motor to something thats reversible with varible speed, possibly 1.5 or 2 hp. im using a 3/4 hp single speed now. ive got 220volt single phase power in the shop, is this possible?
whats the cost, where do i look?

Yes

If you go with a 1.5 hp and VFD from KB electronics, KBAC27D
You can do all that on a simple 110VAC 15 amp outlet and it is perfectly portable to any outlet.

If you want 2 hp, or want to use a cheaper VFD, you can do it on 220v simgle phase

You will need a 3 phase 220 vac motor

I bought locally through an industrial supplier, but this is the best value I know

+ 1 with Wayne . I have been doing a lot of research lately and Wayne is the best way to go . He includes the shipping in his prices .
