Grinder RPM range?

I'm trying to find a motor for my grinder(KMG) and I have found a few that might work. What I'm wondering is what rpm's should I be looking for? One motor I'm concidering is up to 1,800 rpm. Thanks for the help!

RPM at the grinder can be controlled with step pulleys. Power is also of importance, of course. I'd be more interested in the HP (1.5 to 3 HP probably best). 1740-3450 is fine, then control with pulleys.

If you use the step pulleys for speed selection...I prefer the 1725RPM motor frames over the 3450 jobs. The slower motors are a bit heavier...and the speeds work out better on the KMG1. The 3450 motors on the KMG1 make it a bit tougher to slow down.

If it is a variable speed motor...then it doesn't matter.

Sincerely,
Rob

Ah, El Maestro speaketh.

Thank you, KMG-1 MAN!

This grinder blows my old Bader 2 away so bad that poor old thing needs to find a lonely hearts' club for grinders! You da man, Rob!
Thanks!

Thanks guys! It will be set up for varaible speed for sure! I'm wondering what would be a good rpm to start off grinding with? I'm brand new to making knives and I don't even have the grinder yet but will soon! Thanks again!
