Grinder stand with tilt

I thought I’d upload a video of a grinder stand I built in case there are others out there looking for ideas. I had a table before, but it was too big and difficult to clean behind. Still need to clean and paint, but here it is.

I like idea for disc sander , but please secure it in place when you work on it . I witnessed once when huge bench grinder fell to the floor together with the stand while one friend work on it ......luckily for us in shop , the cable came off.............I do not know how to explain what happened in those few seconds ,not funny ..... he could kill someone .

Nice build. I like the slot between the top plates. I could see accessories that would work well there. Some nuts welded over holes on the underside would allow you to place a ratchet handle to tighten against whatever you slide in there … holding the accessory more securely.

I would highly suggest you do something better for the base legs than what you have. It is clearly wobbly in the video, and in the horizontal position when the work table is added may even be unstable and topple over. The base has to be rock solid and as wide or wider than the whole unit when in the horizontal position. I suggest a 2" angle iron "U" about 36" long and 18" deep. The open part is the front. It is welded from the four corners of the "U" to the current setup with 1.5" angle iron braces. You could weld them to the 5" pipe near the top, but for the max stability, weld the braces to the corners of the 1/4" bottom plate. Across the front, weld a horizontal brace about half way up below the grinder. This will give the base better strength and will make a rest for your grinder bucket.

I see where you are talking about the wobble in the video. I pulled it away from where it normally sits to video it. I have indoor drain tile and the concrete is uneven.
The base is actually wider than the grinder and very sturdy. I am probably still going to connect it to the wall near the top to make it damn near invincible.

Another thing I did was take a smaller tool arm with an elbow for connecting to my cyclone and shopvac when doing handle material.
It’s turning out to be very useful!
